Facet Injections

Injecting anti-inflammatory into the facet joints can help reduce neck pain that is caused by irritated facet joints. This procedure takes about 15-20 minutes and is usually done under fluoroscopy. The Injection usually lasts a few weeks and is usually performed so that more rehabilitation can take place. It is not commonly a cure for neck pain. After the injection, the following rehab is usually prescribed:

  • Mobilization of the stiff joints above and below that may have contributed to the problem.

  • Traction.

A more permanent procedure known as a facet rhizotomy can also be done once it's confirmed that the facet joint is the pain generator.
