Using Heat to Help Your Neck Pain

Heat can help bring blood to healing tissues, reduce muscle spasm, and block pain. It shouldn't be used within the first several days of an injury, but after that, it can be a great pain control tool! Use heat as often as you want, always being careful that you don't burn yourself. Test any heat source you use for 10 seconds on the back of your hand. If your hand can't tolerate it, neither will your body! If you have any areas of numbness or loss of feeling, don't use heat or ice over these areas without talking to your doctor! Moist heat is better than dry heat!
