| Tightness in the sub-occipital
muscles are frequently associated with headaches. |
 |
The upper trapezius is an important muscle
responsible for bending the head to the side and lifting the arm
above the head. it's also a muscle that is often tight in patients
with neck pain. |
 |
To test this muscle, sit in the type of
chair where you can easily reach the bottom of the seat with both
hands. Start by grabbing the bottom of the chair with the right
hand. While looking straight, bend your head to the left.

Notice how much tightness you have from your neck to the top of the
shoulder on the right. Now test the other side by reversing the
exercise. How do the two sides feel? |
