for Property and Casualty Insurance
Christel L. Szczesniak is now retired. She was
previously the technical expert on property and casualty insurance and
enforcement issues for the Colorado Division of Insurance (Commissioner of
Insurance). She was responsible for tracking legislation related to property
and casualty insurance and facilitated the regulatory implementation of new
laws and regulations. Ms. Szczesniak was the national authority on
automobile no-fault cost containment.
Ms. Szczesniak was very active in insurance
education, nationally and in Colorado. She was a past national president of
the Insurance Regulatory Examiner Society (IRES); on the the IRES Board of
Directors, the local president and served as chair and/or participated in
many insurance committees. She managed the Automobile Personal Injury
Protection Independent Medical Examination Program for the State of
Colorado. Ms. Szczesniak still chairs the Colorado Workers' Compensation
Cost Containment Board for the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment,
Division of Workers' Compensation.
Ms Szczesniak worked for the Colorado Division of
Insurance (Commissioner of Insurance) from 1973 until 2004 as Senior Market
Conduct Examiner; Chief of Market Conduct Examinations, Rates and Forms;
Regulatory Administrator; Special Assistant to the Commissioner of
Insurance; and Director of Policy and Research. She received professional
designations of Charted Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); Certified
Insurance Examiner (CIE); Associate in Insurance Management (AIM); Associate
in Risk Management (ARM); and Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW).
Ms. Szczesniak was educated in Europe.
From the beginning, Ms. Szczesniak has served and
is still serving as a Director of the International Spinal Injury
Foundation.
