I was rear-ended 2 1/2 months ago. I was stopped at a traffic light and the force of the impact pushed me into the car in front of me. I had an MRI done and need to know what my results mean. Are these problems a result of being rear-ended? My right arm is still very tight from the shoulder to just before the elbow. C3-C4 there is mild posterior spurring but the canal and foramen remain patent C4-C5 there is minor posterior disc osteophyte that effaces the anterior subarachnoid space, but does not contact the cord. the canal measures 9.3 mm AP. there is minimal right neuroforaminal narrowing. C5-C6 there is focal right paracentral soft disc protrusion measuring 5mm transvers by 4mm AP that abuts and sightly flattens the right hemi cord. the neuroforamen remain patent. There is also mild lordosis from C2-C7, Mild hypertrophic change at the dens-C1 articulation, which appears chronic in nature. There is mild motion artifact on the axial sequences. L4-L5 there is mild bulging of the disc and facet hypertrophy. canal and foramen are patent L5-S1 there is small focal central protrusion thatt does not contact any nerve roots. canal and foramen are patent. impression: there is disc dessication at L5-S1 with a small focal central protrusion that does not contact any nerve roots. In laymen's terms please help me understand these results. thank you for your time.

Thank you for visiting our site. The only way to see what your MRI results mean is to perform a history and exam and try to correlate from there with your accident related symptoms.  This is something that can not be done via e-mail. It is best to let your Dr know before your appt that understanding these results is important to you and ask the staff to book extra time to have your results explained to you.
