The Spinal Injury Foundation (SIF) funds
research into the diagnosis, treatment, and management of chronic spinal
injury. It's goal is to seed projects which will be able to eventually apply
for National Institutes for Health (NIH) funding. SIF does not pay for
medical care rendered as part of a research project. SIF does pay for research
coordination, study design, and statistical analysis.

The purpose of the SIF IRB is to protect the rights of human subjects involved
in it's own funded research as well as research funded through other means. The
IRB meets quarterly to review applications. The fee is a $500 donation to the
Foundation.
